My thoughts on what has just unfolded at Ironman Hamburg. This is the saddest day I've experienced in my time in triathlon.

People die in Ukraine to save their country. I understand that. To die for your country, I understand that. But to die, in whatever capacity, during a Triathlon, during a Sport event, that’s not understandable, not acceptable. That should never happened. Something is really wrong somewhere in the Ironman organisation.
